1. Many scientists agree that fires are natural part of the growth of a forest. For example, some tree seeds are released only under the extreme temperatures that occur in a fire Some people argue that forest fires should be allowed to run their natural course. Others argue that the effects of a forest fire are just too damaging and that forest fires should be put out as soon as possible. Which side do you agree with? Why?

3. The speed of water waves, including tsunamis, depends on the depth of the water. Check it out for yourself by filling a tub that is about 0.5m long and at least 5 cm deep with about 1cm of water. Then nudge the tub. How long does it take for the wave to go back and forth? Add more water, and nudge the tub again. How fast does the wave move the second time? What do you think would happen to the speed of the wave if you made the water deeper still? Try it?

Requirement (3)
Considering that the text list the materials and procedure for you, I do not feel that it is necessary to complete the materials or procedure sections of this experiment. However, I would like to see a thorough discussion for the results section (minimum one page). Begin by answering the questions within the prompt (question) itself, and then add additional research to support your findings. As always, list your references or work cited. Also, no coping and pasting. The discussion and supporting information must be in your own words! Also, as with all and any experiments at home, please have your parents consent to the experiment prior to starting and sign your document upon completion.
